WA is often overlooked in terms of attractions in comparison to the Eastern state and to be honest it seems unfair. If you know where to look and what to do Perth is bustling with culture, attractions and activities that people of all ages can enjoy. There is something for everyone in WA, and that’s why we at Shock Radio have compiled a list of our top 5 things to do in Perth.
NUMBER #1 Our local arts scene
WA punches above its weight in terms of the arts, no question. We’ve produced some incredibly talented artists from many different disciples, from Tame Impala to Dacre Montgomery. We have the Black Swan theatre company often presenting performances in the Heath Ledger Theatre. Our performing arts academy WAAPA (where Hugh Jackman studied at by the way), always having shows for all ages to see. As well as our thriving local music scene at venues such as The Bird, Mojo’s and Freo social. Perth is overflowing with talent just waiting to be discovered.
NUMBER #2 Adventure world
Do you like Waterslides, Rollercoaster and Rides? Trick question, of course you do. Located in Bibra Lake is Perth’s one and only Adventure World. Open during Summer and Spring Adventure World boasts a large variety of attractions for the whole family to enjoy, like the waterpark Kahuna Falls or massive waterslide The Kraken. And the main attraction is The Abyss, which was named “Australia’s best roller coaster by the founder of the Australian Coaster Club and was a silver medallist for Best new Tourism Development in the 2014 Western Australian Tourism Awards. Oh yeah, and there’s even a wildlife park. There really is something for everyone at Adventure world.
NUMBER #3 Perth Zoo
For all you animal lovers out there, Perth Zoo is the place to go. With a large variety of wildlife, guided tours and events all the time. The Zoo is also getting some huge renovations done such as the Gibbon walkway, with Gibbons swinging over the top of you as you walk through the 17 hectare park. Go to their website for events and stay posted on the renovations to make this amazing attraction even better.
NUMBER #4 Rottnest Island
A half an hour Ferry Ride from Fremantle will have you transported to an Island Paradise! Rottnest island’s beaches are like no other, the food is fantastic, there’s plane tours and sky diving and possibly the cutest animal to every exist, the Quokka. If you need a coastal holiday only a stone’s throw away from Perth there is no better destination, hop on the ferry, grab a beer from the pub and take that Quokka selfie. \
NUMBER # 5 Bali
Come on, you know what I’m talking about. One of the most popular holiday spots for the people of Perth and flights there are cheaper than going over east. Its pretty good, would recommend.
